JERRY DIARY MAY-JUNE 2012
I wake up the 1st of May with a bit of a soar head. I’ve deejayed before Etienne de Crecy playing live at Social Club the night before, spirits were high to say the least. The next day Etienne gulped on Twitter ‘can’t remember a thing, amazing!’. A true gentleman, just like in one of those French movies about friendship and life, he had earlier invited his best friends and crew for diner at the Gallopin brasserie place de la Bourse around the corner from the gig. His wife picked up the full bill as the guests left merry and ready to embrace the night ahead.
My digital label Continental is going good. Our label I should say as it is of course also JBAG’s label, my music project with Andrea Gorgerino, and the people who help me running it are very involved too. We’ve just released a new single by the legendary Adamski, ‘I Like It’ with ace remixes by Mirror People, Blackjoy and ATTAR! who’s delivered a true bomb. It’s a striking return to dancefloors although Adam’s bound to hit us sooner rather than later with another demented project but shhh. In Paris I ended up place de la Concorde at 5am with my good friend Junior after playing for La French. Sylvain & co organize kinda private parties, they’ve built an impressive database, play great music and people keep coming back. They’re now opening their own club at La Cité de la Mode et du Design with Lionel Bensemoun, André’s partner in crime in Le Baron etc.
I stopped off in Rome for one night on the 19th May to play at Glamda, a great mixed-gay party that packs them in. Healthily militant in their approach, they proposed a minute of silence in the middle of the night for the victims of the explosion at Brindisi’s school which happened that same morning. Then it was off to Greece for a week under the sun in order to get some rest before the big summer rush. Then back in London in time for the erm… Jubilee, which felt pretty grey soaked in all that rain. And then it was off to Nancy for a Continental party with Reflex, the breezy discopop duo from down south, doing their dj set & live mike thing. This gave us the chance to hook up with Rise & Fool, also a girl and a boy making music as well as active club promoters. Last but not least, I put together with my partner in crime Gildas a cd summery mix titled Kitsuné Soleil that’s got all our favourite tunes of the moment from the likes of Citizens!, Jupiter, Housse de Racket, Metronomy, The Rapture, Friendly Fires, M83… Check the MiniMix:
