Opening Rue Madame: Discover Paris’ 6th Arrondissement with Maison Kitsuné
Maison Kitsuné is about to move in Paris’ left bank! To celebrate and avoid any desorientation, we’re taking you on a virtual Maison Kitsuné Tour Guide throughout the 6ème arrondissement!
Second stop: The Shakespeare and Company bookstore !
After our first stop in the Luxembourg gardens, we’re taking you to the finest and most famous Anglo-Saxon bookstore of the capital!
Located nearby the Seine riverbanks, Shakespeare and Company was opened in 1951 by George Whitman. It was originally named “Le Mistral” but renamed to “Shakespeare and Company” in 1964 in tribute to Sylvia Beach’s bookstore.
Today, it serves both as a regular bookstore and as a reading library, specialised in English-language literature. The shop was featured in the Richard Linklater film Before Sunset and in the Woody Allen film Midnight in Paris!
After walking around in the district, stop by and take a break by reading and flipping through some classics…
