#KitsuneSweet16 – CITIZENS!
The Kitsuné Maison Compilation is back for its 16th round as 'The Sweet Sixteen Issue' ! It's time to go back in the days...
We’re back for another round of musical surprises! This year, Kitsune Maison 16 – The Sweet Sixteen Issue is about showcasing some of the most exciting artists of tomorrow with a little ‘teen years nostalgia’ twist!
So do Kitsuné’s London darlings and indie pop masters still need an introduction? Watch this space as the band is about to come of age with the release of its second album pencilled for early 2015. Here, Totbok brings out the big synths and optimizes the sublime ‘Lighten Up’ to maximal effect.
Now it’s time to put on those headphones and jump back in those early guitary years…
#KitsuneSweet16 digs into the artists nostalgic-yet-slightly-embarassing teenage years…
WHEN I WAS SIXTEEN
This is a picture of Heatham House, a youth club where we used to hang out and drink stolen cans of lager. We didn’t do any graffitii though cause we couldn’t really paint. And though they put on loads of gigs here our band never played because no one had any use for a band doing instrumental covers of Nirvana.
The song that reminds us of being 16 is “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child, which they played at our school disco and we tried to dance to and hang out with the cool kids who were drinking malibu from a hip flask. Destiny’s Child are a thousand times better than Malibu by the way. Fact. Also dancing wasn’t cool at school discos. Fellow men, it’s definitely cool to dance at clubs. Even badly. More dancing is needed!
As we formed out first band at 16, we did an amazing cover of Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana. We didn’t have a singer so it was kind of like an instrumental version. More a b-side kind of thing. There is no footage of us on Youtube, this is a good thing.
